Building a boat is an intricate and involved process, requiring skill and knowledge of many different aspects.
Our boat designs apply the appropriate safety factors to design stress values so the materail structure can, even after 10 or 20 years of service, safely carry the load for which it was designed. Our criteria is based on the testing for the United States Navy, NAVAL OCEAN SYSTEMS CENTER, for the Ocean Engineering Studies related to PMMA materials and the diverse design features and types of service for U.S. Naval applications. The hydro static testing of the PMMA specimens was conducted at Southwest Research Institute.
History
The existing Clear Boat Hull designs on the market were never developed with the intention of passengers entering the water and reentering the boat from the water. As the demand for expanding the current clear boats on the market into a "snorkel excursion" boat was realized, it presented a huge liability to the safe operation of passengers re-boarding the vessel while at anchor or adrift.
A layman solution was developed by constructing a boarding ladder that locks into the overhead canopy and or hangs off the side of the boat. The concept was to allow guests to climb out of the water, into the boat at the middle of the boat. However, this concept has not been 100 percent successful and many guests who are not agile have slipped their leg or body through the step and between the ladder and the boat, causing injury.
Carafino 2024 has solved this liability by designing small swim platforms at the transom of the 2024 Carafino Clear Boats, permitting guests a safer and easier method of re-boarding the vessel from the water in conjunction with the side boarding ladder.

We offer two model lengths beginning in occupancy of 17 passengers. Our first model of the fleet is 26.2' with ability to have 115 to 200 Hp outboard or twin 50 to 90 HP set up. Cable steering with back up tiller arm attached. Excluding the Bare Boat model, our line of boats come with overhead stainless steel canopy for shade and optimal viewing, blocking sun glare from striking the see through floor. Additional equipment is included, safety, ground tackle, battery for electric start, navigation lights. All models are designed for near shore or sheltered water coastal sightseeing operations. We utilize Maxsurf software to ensure compliance with international stability criteria for balanced vessel performance , motion prediction, and structural integrity analysis.

United States Coast Guard Safety Compliance for Boat Builiders
In compliance with the United States Coast Guard vessel definition and category, for types of vessel, and in compliance with the (MIC) Manufacturer Identification Code under 33CFR Part 181. Safe Guarding Law Enforcement, Carafino Clear Boats Worldwide, Incorporated, manufacturers nationally and internationally, two (2) types of vessels and defined by the USCG as;
1) "T" Boats: Larger passenger carrying boats are inspected vessels and could be considered a Sub chapter T vessel, that is, a vessel to which the rules in Title 46 Code of Federal Regulations, Sub chapter T apply. These are passenger vessels carrying more than 6 passengers and are less than 100 gross tons displacement. The Carafino Clear Boat vessel(s) falls into this category nationally.
Carafino Clear Boats are encompassed under the European Union States as a "CE" certification Category "D" class vessel.
2) The U.S. commercial passenger carrying vessels are divided into inspected and un-inspected vessels. Un-inspected vessels are usually boats with six (6) or less passengers for hire. Boats carrying six (6) or less passengers for hire, also called six (6) pack boats have to meet the same vessel construction safety standards as recreational boats, however the skipper or captain of the boat must have a U.S. Captain License to carry (6) six or less passengers and six (6) or more passengers. The license goes to the person, not the boat.
All vessels that carry more than (6) six paying passengers are referred to as inspected vessels. Carafino Clear Boats are defined as a
T Boat Class vessel operating either as a uninspected vessel carrying less than six (6) passengers for hire with a U.S. Licensed Captain or classified as an inspected vessel carrying more than six (6) passengers for hire with a U.S. licensed Captain upon US waters.
International license captain requirements vary by country/state. United States Coast Guard boat manufacturer safety mandates meet or exceed "CE" international standards and are verified for compliance through the National Marine Manufacturer Association which mandates manufacturers compliance for international recreation boat building safety.
Carafino Clear Boats are defined as an "Open Boat", as defined in 46 CFR 175.400, of 26.2 feet in length , with outboard powered engine(s), running from portable fuel tanks positioned on deck, in the open air, of not more than 12 U.S. gallons. The vessel is specially designed for near shore "passenger for hire carrying operations", in swell of less than (1) one meter or 3 feet in height and winds not more than 20 mph upon any body of water internationally or domestic (USA). Commonly adhered to as near shore or semi protected waters. Carafino Clear Boats comply with the Simplified stability proof test as listed under 46 CFR 178.310(c)(1) , and defined as CFR 178.330. First-Rate Materials Warranty to End Users Transferable
We have strict standards when it comes the safety of passengers. We are committed to what we produce and never compromise on quality and craftsmanship This is especially true when it comes to the first-rate PMMA materials we use. Our customers deserve the highest level of products on the market, and we work tirelessly to maintain those standards. That is why we provide a 5 year transferable end user warranty of our PMMA composite boats from yellowing due to UV radiation. The manufacturers of the PMMA material provide Carafino Clear Boats with a 15 year industry standard from yellowing, also known as discoloration. Our construction craftsmanship is warranty for 12 months from the date of delivery.
Carafino Clear Boats Will not manufacture Poly Carbonate material boats because they will eventually begin yellowing in the sun regardless of UV additives or films applied in the manufacturing process of the Poly Carbonate material. Poly Carbonate material is produced at a maximum thickness of 15mm / just more than a half inch. The material cannot withstand the required (rigidity) structural integrity ensuring USCG and international boating safety standards, nor can Poly Carbonate meet UV requirements for long term material clarity preventing discoloration.
